Clíona de Bhailís
Clíona de Bhailís is the lead researcher on this project. She is a PhD Candidate at the Centre for Disability Law and Policy (CDLP) at the University of Galway. Before she started her PhD Clíona worked with the CDLP she as a Research Assistant on the European Research Council funded Voices of Individuals: Collectively Exploring Self-determination (VOICES) project. As part of her role she edited the project’s book ‘Global Perspectives on Legal Capacity: Our Voices, Our Stories’.
She holds a Bachelor of Civil Law and graduated with first class honours from the LL.M in Public Law in NUI Galway in 2013 with a minor thesis in the area of legal capacity and access to justice for people with disabilities. During her studies in NUI Galway Clíona was the first Disability Clinics Coordinator with the Free Legal Advice Society. This role involved managing and volunteering with the Disability Legal Information Clinic. Clíona continues to manage the clinic and supervise LL.M student volunteers in her current role.
